Trish Ellis (OAM)

Councillor Candidate

Trish is the past Chairperson of the Eurobodalla Shire Council’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee for several years. She is a board member of the NSW Aboriginal Languages Trust Board, which promotes revival and revitalisation of Aboriginal languages in New South Wales. She previously held the position of joint management co-ordinator for handback of Biamanga and Gulaga National Parks.

Trish was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to the Aboriginal community of the Eurobodalla Shire. Trish and her siblings have revitalised the local Aboriginal Dhurga language, traditionally spoken by the local Yuin people from Nowra South to Wallaga Lake, and inland to Braidwood and Araluen. 

“I have spent my adult life giving to the community because many people here in the Eurobodalla are invisible – I want to give them all a voice for this reason.”
