Community is Important

Community amenity and infrastructure is core council business. Yet the Eurobodalla is way behind on delivering the kinds of services offered in neighbouring council areas. In fact, we are going backwards. Candidate for Mayor Sharon Winslade says:

"Batemans Bay has not had a community centre or community hall since 2019 and so many local organisations are struggling to find suitable and affordable spaces to use. Genuine engagement with locals is also essential for a practical master plan for Batemans Bay."

"We need more facilities for young people - they have dwindled away and there are no permanent facilities in Moruya. Teenagers and young adults need someone safe and interesting to meet and hang out."

"Amenities for people with disabilities or limited mobility are not keeping up with the growing older population. Narooma’s main street has increasing traffic but no pedestrian crossing. Disabled parking, footpaths that are wide and safe for prams and walkers, wheelchair ramps and safe road crossings require urgent expansion."
