The Labor Party has announced its team to go forward in the Eurobodalla Shire Council elections. Four candidates are standing in the Councillor election, and Sharon Winslade is running for Mayor.
The Labor Party has endorsed four local women to run for Eurbodalla Shire Council in the upcoming election on 14 September. Sharon Winslade is leading the Labor ticket, together Maureen Searson, Patricia (Trish) Ellis OAM and Gail Vincent.
All four women bring different backgrounds, and a range of skills and experience to the Labor team. What they have in common is a desire to work in Council for the residents of Eurobodalla and bring Labor values of equity, and equality of access and opportunity regardless of geographic location.
Sharon is also standing for Mayor. Sharon will bring essential experience in economics and governance, project and financial management, and diverse board and committee experience to Council. Sharon is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
Sharon said:
'We are looking forward to listening to our residents to hear about their needs and issues.'
'We know that the Eurobodalla needs strong support from Council to meet the diverse housing needs of our residents. We know that Council's Draft Housing Strategy does not do this and along with many community groups we will be saying this loudly in our submissions to Council.
We need affordable housing, we need crisis accommodation, we need smaller homes for older singles and couples. Like Bega and Shoalhaven Councils, a strong commitment to an Affordable Housing Plan is where our Council should to start.'
